Job Description:
Job Overview: The QA Lead will oversee the Quality Assurance team, ensuring that all products meet high standards of quality and reliability. This role involves creating and executing test plans, leading automation efforts, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvements within QA processes. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in software quality assurance, strong technical skills, and proven leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of QA engineers to ensure effective project delivery.
- Define QA strategy, approach, and execution across development projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align on requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
- Drive quality initiatives, focusing on continuous process improvement within the QA function.
- Test Planning & Execution
- Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans, strategies, and test cases.
- Oversee manual and automated testing efforts, ensuring thorough coverage and efficient execution.
- Coordinate and manage all testing phases, including unit, integration, system, and acceptance testing.
- Monitor and report on test execution progress, identifying and addressing risks early.
- Automation & Tools
- Lead automation initiatives to expand test coverage and streamline testing processes.
- Select, implement, and manage appropriate testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JIRA, TestNG).
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
- Stay current with advancements in test automation and integrate best practices.
- Defect Management & Analysis
- Manage the defect lifecycle, from detection and reporting to resolution and verification.
- Conduct root cause analysis on critical issues and collaborate with development for quick resolution.
- Document test cases, results, and defects with clarity and accuracy.
- Facilitate open communication with the development team to ensure timely defect resolution.
- Performance & Security Testing
- Oversee performance, load, and stress testing efforts to ensure system reliability and scalability.
- Coordinate with security teams to embed security testing within the QA process.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance QA efficiency and quality.
- Mentor team members, provide constructive feedback, and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Foster a quality-driven mindset and a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- Experience:
- 12+ years in software quality assurance, with a deep understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- At least 4+ years in a lead or senior QA role with experience managing teams and leading QA projects.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, JUnit, TestNG).
- Experience with programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript) for automation scripting.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
- Strong background in performance testing and security testing is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
